Description

The Screaming Tom, a peculiar flora, bears a striking resemblance to a giant head sprouting from a stem, complete with a few elongated leaves atop its ‘head’. The visage on the head is quite unsettling. This plant typically thrives in areas where battles have been waged and many lives have been lost.

Properties

The Screaming Tom exhibits a unique reaction to loud noises. When a sound exceeding a certain volume is produced within 30ft of the Screaming Tom, the plant responds by emitting a deafening scream. This scream inflicts 1d8 thunder damage every 6 seconds to those within range and can activate other plants in the vicinity. The screaming subsides after a minute.

Cultivation

These plants can be transplanted to another pot but require a steady supply of corpses to thrive. When harvested, they emit a scream as if a thunderous sound was made. Their ‘heads’ can be harvested by first severing the leaves, waiting for a minute, and then removing the head. It is recommended to perform this task with earplugs.

Applications

The eyes of the Screaming Tom can be excised and consumed, granting the consumer darkvision until their next long rest. Consuming the tongue allows the user to cast ‘Speak with Dead’ once or until their next short rest. A beverage can be concocted by grinding the plant’s head and serving it with cinnamon and oranges. When consumed, the creature begins speaking in a different accent until their next long rest.
