Boinger
Description
The Boinger, a plant composed of a cluster of elastic vines adorned with orange blossoms, stands at a height of up to 3 feet. It flourishes in regions of high magical activity such as enchanted forests, the Feywild, or tropical jungles. Recognizable by their vanilla-lime scent and fleshy leaves that shroud the stem, Boingers are invasive and tend to proliferate in dense patches. They reproduce by propelling their seeds from their flowers in a spring-like motion.
Properties
Boingers possess the unique ability to amplify the jumping prowess of creatures that bounce on them. A Tiny, Small, or Medium creature that leaps from a Boinger triples its jumping distance and incurs no damage from falling on this plant. This effect necessitates the entire plant; a single leaf is insufficient.
Cultivation
Boinger plants can be propagated from seeds or cuttings. Seeds can be harvested from mature flowers, which explode to disperse them when ready. Cuttings can be obtained from leaves or flowers that have been immersed in water long enough to sprout roots. Boinger plants require weekly watering and exhibit signs of dehydration by losing their bounce. Hydrating them restores their elasticity within a few hours. When fully grown, Boingers can be harvested for their leaves, flowers, and seeds.
Applications
Boingers find various uses in magic and alchemy. A dried Boinger flower can serve as a material component for the Jump spell. A Potion of Jumping can be brewed by gently simmering fresh leaf juice and flower seeds with honey and cinnamon.
