Stormshard Cactus

Description

The Stormshard Cactus, a towering, slender flora, can reach heights of up to 10 feet. It boasts a metallic copper hue and is adorned with sharp, crystalline spikes. The cactus flourishes in areas of high electrical activity, such as stormy deserts or mountain peaks frequently struck by lightning. As a storm approaches, the cactus hums with static electricity and its spikes glow with a soft blue light.

Properties

Any lightning-based attacks made within a 30-foot radius of the cactus are executed with advantage due to the increased electrical activity in the area. Conversely, any saves against these attacks are made with disadvantage. Additionally, any creature or object composed of metal that ventures within 10 feet of the cactus during a storm incurs 1d6 lightning damage per round from the arcing electricity.

Cultivation

Cultivating a Stormshard Cactus necessitates a seed harvested during a thunderstorm. The seed must be planted in sandy or gravel soil and watered with rainwater once per week. The plant grows slowly and requires exposure to at least one lightning storm before it matures and develops its signature metallic sheen. The spikes and juices of the Stormshard can be harvested for later use.

Applications

The spikes of the Stormshard Cactus can be utilized as darts that inflict an additional 1d4 lightning damage upon impact, or they can be crafted into bolts and arrows with the same effect. The juices of the cactus can be combined with sand, blood, and rawlightning to concoct a liquid that, when consumed, increases movement speed by +10 ft for 1 hour.
