Sparkler
Description
The Sparkler, a ubiquitous flora, is known for its clusters of radiant red blossoms, elongated stems, and rotund bases. This hardy weed thrives in a variety of climates, save for the harshest of winters, with a particular fondness for damp habitats. When the Sparkler’s bulb reaches maturity, it detonates in a spectacular display, scattering its incandescent seeds in all directions with an audible report.
Properties
The Sparkler is a plant of volatile nature. Any disturbance can trigger its explosive defense mechanism, causing it to burst into a fiery spectacle and scatter its burning seeds within a 10-foot radius. Any creature caught in this radius must succeed on a DC 12 Dexterity saving throw or suffer 2d4 fire damage from the searing seeds.
Cultivation
Harvesting or transplanting a Sparkler demands exceptional care and expertise. The plant must be uprooted gently to prevent premature detonation and requires constant hydration to prevent desiccation and instability. Neglecting to water a Sparkler for more than a day results in spontaneous combustion, igniting flammable objects within 10 feet and dealing 2d4 fire damage. The bulb, the only part of the Sparkler that holds any utility, must be severed with heated shears and stored in a warm environment to prevent untimely explosions.
Applications
Consumption of the bulb results in an initial 1d4 fire damage due to ignition within the mouth. However, this fiery ordeal bestows upon the consumer the ability to exhale fire akin to the Dragon’s Breath spell.
