Smokescreen Shrub
Description
Unique flora native to volcanic regions, is characterized by its dark, glossy leaves and small, round berries of a deep charcoal hue. Standing up to 6 feet tall, this shrub is often found in proximity to lava flows.
Properties
The Smokescreen Shrub possesses the remarkable ability to produce a dense cloud of smoke. When a berry from the shrub is crushed or exposed to high temperatures, it begins to emit a thick, heavy smoke that fills a 15-foot radius around the plant. This smoke heavily obscures the area, blocking vision as if it were heavily obscured. The smoke lasts for 1 minute or until a strong wind disperses it.
Cultivation
Propagation of the Smokescreen Shrub requires a berry to be cast into fire or magma. The plant thrives in rocky soil and requires very little watering. The shrub’s berries can be harvested with a successful Sleight of Hand check (DC 12). On a failed check, the berry is crushed; on a successful check, you gain 10 berries. Once picked, the berries lose their effect after 1 hour.
Applications
Mixing dried smokeless berries with pepper and cacao creates a hot drink. Upon consumption, smoke begins to emanate from your eyes. The smoke is harmless to you, but intimidation checks are made with advantage for 1 minute.
