Petriflora
Description
The Petriflora, a rare and formidable plant, thrives in the rocky terrains of mountainous regions. Its thick, stone-like petals of a dull orange hue give it a deceptive appearance. As night falls, the plant sheds its rocky exterior to reveal a vibrant flower, only to revert to its petrified state at dawn. Standing at a height of about 3 feet, this plant is as intriguing as it is dangerous.
Properties
The Petriflora holds a unique property of petrifying creatures that perceive it as unattractive. Any
creature who views the flower and finds it displeasing must succeed on a DC 12 Constitution saving throw or be turned to stone.
Cultivation
The Petriflora flourishes in environments where it is nurtured with genuine affection. It requires full sunlight and monthly watering with a concoction of water and gemstone dusts. Interestingly, words of affirmation spoken to the plant aid its growth. Harvesting the flower is a risky endeavor as it triggers the petrification effect on the picker unless picked during the night when the plant reveals its vibrant form.
Applications
The petals of the Petriflora have practical uses beyond their natural state. They can be used to concoct a potion that reverses petrification effects. A brew of these petals simmered with basilisk scale and a drop of dandelion milk creates this potent potion. Upon consumption, it cures the drinker of any petrification effects.
