Description

The Mirage Moss, an underground marvel, captivates with its unique light-bending properties. This white, velvety moss blankets an area of about 5 square feet beneath the surface. Above ground, it projects an illusory vibrant orange flower that vanishes upon approach. Despite being an illusion, this flower harnesses sunlight, nourishing the subterranean moss.

Properties

Any creature attempting to approach the illusory flower will find it fading from sight within a 5-foot radius. Discerning the true nature of the moss, hidden beneath the surface, requires a successful DC 15 Intelligence (Investigation) or (Nature) check.

Cultivation

To cultivate Mirage Moss, its spores must be planted at least 6 inches deep in moist, shaded soil. The moss thrives on sunlight harnessed by the illusory flower and requires only sparing watering. Harvesting involves careful excavation around the moss. The illusory flower can be picked using minor illusion magic; while this doesn’t cause the flower to disappear, the moss will perish within two days.

Applications

The illusory flower of Mirage Moss, when brewed with quartz dust and enchanted with illusory magic for a week, creates a potent concoction. Consumption of this brew grants the ability to morph into any humanoid form. This illusion is incredibly convincing and can only be discerned with a DC 20 Investigation check. The illusion persists for a week during which spells altering appearance are ineffective.
