Migraine Marigold

Description

The Migraine Marigold, a humble flora, is adorned with deep purple blossoms and emits a potent, musky fragrance. It flourishes in the cool shadows of towering trees within dense forests, often nestled amongst ferns and mosses. Standing approximately 1 foot tall, this plant’s flowers bloom under the soft luminescence of moonlight.

Properties

The Migraine Marigold is not merely a visual spectacle but also a plant with potent effects. When a creature inhales its scent, they are afflicted with a severe headache akin to a migraine. This effect persists for 1 hour, during which the creature suffers disadvantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks and Concentration checks.

Cultivation

Propagation of Migraine Marigolds can be achieved through seeds or cuttings. They favor cool, damp environments abundant in shade. Regular but not excessive watering is key to their growth. Upon harvesting, the flower loses its scent after 1 minute. To avoid inhaling the scent during harvesting, it is recommended to don a mask or hold one’s breath while carefully severing the flowers at the stem.

Applications

The fresh petals of the Migraine Marigold have multiple uses. They can be combined with oil, fruity perfume, and a petrified goblin’s nose to concoct a poison. When applied to weapons, this poison causes creatures to make concentration checks with disadvantage. Alternatively, the petals can be dried and ground into a powder that, when cast into a fire, produces smoke that induces headaches in those who inhale it.
