Melting Flower
Description
The Melting Flower, a diminutive yet vibrant flora, is recognized by its luminescent green petals that shimmer with a potent acid. The plant often bears the skeletal remains of insects and beetles, a grim testament to its lethal nature. It flourishes in diverse environments, with a notable prevalence in marshlands. Intriguingly, hags exhibit immunity to the plant’s acidic properties and frequently utilize them as ornamental features within their lairs. The plant’s history is deeply entwined with these creatures, sparking conjecture about its mystical origins.
Properties
The Melting Flower boasts a unique defense mechanism. Upon contact, the plant’s acid inflicts 2d6 acid damage, deterring potential predators and threats.
Cultivation
Harvesting or transplanting these flowers necessitates the use of acid-resistant gloves due to their corrosive nature. Once plucked, they retain their acidity for 1d4 hours unless submerged in water, which prolongs their lifespan to a week. With adequate safety measures, the acid can be harvested with ease; approximately 50 flowers yield enough acid to fill a vial.
Applications
The Melting Flower serves a multitude of purposes. It can function as an effective insect catcher due to its acidic properties. Alternatively, its flower petals can be dried and amalgamated with butter and vinegar to concoct a unique spell component. This component has the power to transmute any spell’s damage type to acid but disintegrates after use.
