Longfoot Snapper
Description
The Longfoot Snapper, a bush native to grassy plains, forests, hills, and valleys, is known for its giant red and violet berries that boast a sweet, caramel-like flavor. These berries serve as a delightful snack for travelers. The bush itself does not exceed 5 ft. in height, but its roots can delve as deep as 5 ft.
Properties
The berries of the Longfoot Snapper are generally non-toxic to most creatures. However, people native to Fae-Ral exhibit an allergic reaction to them. A creature from Fae-Ral consuming a berry from this plant must succeed on a DC 18 Constitution saving throw or suffer disadvantage on all saving throws for 1d4 days.
Cultivation
Transplanting a Longfoot Snapper due to its deep roots is an arduous task. However, cultivating one from its seeds is surprisingly straightforward. It takes at least 2 years for the plant to mature and bear fruit. Thereafter, the plant yields more berries annually until it collapses under its own weight after 20 years. With proper care, the plant can endure up to 30-35 years.
Applications
The berries of the Longfoot Snapper can be processed into juice, jam, or pie without losing their properties. They can also be brewed with halfling blood and ale to concoct a Potion of Luck, which grants the drinker a reroll of a natural one until they complete a long rest or utilize the ability.
