Jumping Jitterbush
Description
The Jumping Jitterbush, a petite, bushy plant, stands at a height of 2 feet. It boasts a dense cluster of bright blue leaves and yields small, yellow flowers that mature into dark blue berries. This lively plant is a common sight in grasslands and open forests.
Properties
The Jumping Jitterbush lives up to its name with its unique ability to leap up to 3 feet away when approached or touched, evading attempts to pick it. Any creature attempting to harvest the plant must succeed on a DC 18 Dexterity (Sleight of Hand) check, or the plant springs away, landing in a random direction 15 ft. away.
Cultivation
Cultivating the Jumping Jitterbush involves planting seeds harvested from its fruits. These fruits can be collected with a successful Sleight of Hand check (DC 18) or when they naturally fall from the bush. The plant thrives in full sunlight, and harvesting requires either patience or swift reflexes.
Applications
The berries of the Jumping Jitterbush hold potent magical properties. When ground with flying snake poison and a flying squirrel’s tail, then infused with an illusion spell, they form a malleable mass. This mass can be shaped into any form and hardens after two days. Crafted into jewelry such as a necklace, it grants the wearer the ability to cast Misty Step as a reaction when a hostile creature approaches within 5 ft. However, the jewelry shatters after casting the spell in this manner.
