Backsmell Daisy
Description
The Backsmell Daisy, an eccentric flora, bears an uncanny resemblance to a decaying cauliflower with daisies sprouting from its form. It flourishes in temperate climates, shunning extreme heat. Despite its uninviting appearance and potent odor akin to rotten eggs, the plant paradoxically possesses a flavor reminiscent of cucumber.
Properties
Upon reaching maturity, the flower releases a flammable gas within a 20ft. radius. This gas is
invisible but highly combustible, dealing 2d6 fire damage upon ignition or half that damage on a
successful dexterity saving throw (DC 13).
Cultivation
The plant can be transplanted with caution, provided it is kept at a safe distance from open flames. Once harvested, it ceases to produce the flammable gas. Its cauliflower-like bulb and daisy petals can be harvested for various applications. However, propagation of this flower can be hazardous due to its pungent smell attracting insects that devour the plant and disperse its seeds. The most effective method of propagation involves a fire beetle coming into contact with the plant’s gas range, triggering an explosion that scatters the seeds over a larger area.
Applications
The Backsmell Daisy boasts diverse uses in alchemy, magic, and even culinary arts. Its bulb can function as a grenade that releases a gas explosion upon impact. Alternatively, it can be boiled in water with sweet-smelling spices for a week to create a bulb that neutralizes foul odors on impact. The daisy petals can be consumed raw as a tangy snack.
